Injured Chicharito gets call-up

[HEXAGONAL COUNTDOWN] Mexican national team coach Jose Manuel de la Torre included Javier Hernandez, who hasn't played yet for Manchester United this season and could be on the move before the end of the transfer window, and Andres Guardado for World Cup 2014 qualifiers against Honduras and the USA even though they have been injured.

Chicharito has been bothered by a hamstring injury, and 2012 Olympic hero Oribe Peralta will likely start in his place in the qualifiers if he isn't ready to go.

Chicharito, whose playing time at Manchester United has diminished since the arrival of Robin van Persie, is reportedly being targeted by Tottenham.

Guardado could make his first start of La Liga season Sunday when Valencia faces Barcelona.

Mexico is 1-0-5 (W-L-T) in the Hexagonal and 6-4-8 overall this year, but Chepo kept his job as head coach after a meeting of Mexican First Division presidents following the Gold Cup.

The 23-player squad also includes two Argentine-born players, Christian Gimenez and Damian Alvarez. European-based stars Guillermo Ochoa and Carlos Vela refused to be considered.

In its only tune-up game for the September qualifiers, El Tri beat Ivory Coast, 4-1, in its most impressive outing of the year against an albeit disinterested opponent.

I know this is wishful thinking but if there ever was a player that would be fantastic for a designated player spot in MLS, it's Javier Hernandez. They ought to "break the bank" for that guy, rescuing Chivas USA from their current situation and bringing the league a very exciting player.
