Bale Unveiled to Real Fans and Press

  • Marca, Tuesday, September 3, 2013 11:09 AM

Gareth Bale was officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday following his world record $132 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur. The Welshman, who will wear the No. 11, was presented in front of more than 20,000 Real Madrid fans.

"It's my dream to play for Real Madrid, thank you for this welcome. Hala Madrid!" the 24-year-old said to the assembled crowd in Spanish.  After that, Bale gave his first press conference as a Real Madrid player, where he said: "I would have come here for a penny, for whatever. The transfer fee is not something that affects me. It's something between Madrid and Spurs. It only brings extra pressure if I want it to."

The Wales international added that the presence of idol Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the reasons why he’d signed for the La Liga giant. "For me Cristiano Ronaldo is the boss, the best player in the world," Bale pointed. "It will be an honor to play alongside him.”

Bale is a very good player but from watching him play and score I just can't see him living up to the hype. Two years at RM to save face for management and then back to the EPL.
