Orlando wins title with 7-4 win before 20,886 fans

[USL PRO; Final] How important was it for Orlando City to get Dom Dwyer back from Sporting Kansas City for Saturday's USL PRO championship game? All the Englishman did was score four goals and assist on a fifth goal, and Orlando needed every one of them as it held off the Charlotte Eagles, 7-4, before a record 20,886 fans.

“To play in front of more than 20,000 tonight was amazing,” said Orlando City coach Adrian Heath. “It’s a little bit surreal because I’ve never been involved in a game like that in my life [scoring seven goals].“

Charlotte led 1-0 and 3-2 before a penalty kick completed Dwyer's hat trick in the 61st minute. His fourth goal in the 69th minute and the first of two Dennis Chin goals a minute later put the Lions ahead for good.

Dwyer, who finished the season with 19 goals in 14 games for Orlando City, will return to Sporting Kansas City for which he made his first start last week.

The attendance mark shattered the club’s former mark of 11,220 set in the 2011 USL PRO championship game.
