Late winner moves Rowdies into three-way tie at top

[NASL REWIND: Week 6] An own goal in stoppage time gave the Tampa Bay Rowdies a 3-2 win over Carolina and a share of NASL lead with the RailHawks and Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, who tied San Antonio 0-0.

Lucky Mkosana, the Rowdies' new signing from the Harrisburg City Islanders, sent in a cross from the right wing that was deflected and then headed into his own goal by RailHawks defender Paul Hamilton.

After Ty Shipalane out Carolina ahead, the Rowdies took a second-half lead through Evans Frimpong and Georgi Hristov, but the RailHawks leveled on a goal Enzo Martinez.

"We were fortunate to come across that late goal," said Rowdies coach Ricky Hill. "It is great for the fans and it is a morale boost for our players. We created chances and luckily we were able to get the three points."

The New York Cosmos trail the leading trio by a point after their 1-1 with the spring champion Atlanta Silverbacks. Former Spanish international Marcos Senna put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot, but Shane Moroney headed a second-half equalizer to share the points. The Cosmos' third home game drew 5,598 fans.

Minnesota United FC sits fifth with eight points after its 1-1 tie with FC Edmonton. A Christiano Dias goal put Minnesota ahead before Corey Hertzog pounced to equalize with his second strike of the season a minute later.
