Field invader massages the result in Brazilian game

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] In lower division Brazilian playoff soccer, Aparecidence's masseur slipped onto the field and made two saves to prevent Tupi-MG from scoring the goal it needed to advance to the final.

The masseur’s interference kept the game score at 2-2 and aggregate at 3-3, which favored Aparecidence thanks to away goals.

We’re still waiting to hear whether officials will overturn the manipulated result. In the meanwhile, enjoy the farce – and note that besides his goalkeeping skills, the culprit’s a pretty speedy guy …

    That's where you wish the referee had the authority to award the goal. Awarding the goal retroactively is better than not at all, but we all know the score affects tactics, so playing under the wrong score might justify replaying the game rather than just revising the result.
