Argentine forward Maximiliano Urruti
lasted less than a month at Toronto FC as he was traded to the
Portland Timbers in exchange for forward Bright Dike
, a first-round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and allocation money.
Urruti, 22, was acquired
by Toronto FC on Aug. 16 from Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys, where he made 56 appearances and scored 12 goals in the Primera Division and also made six appearances in Copa Libertadores
He just made two appearance for TFC, which is out of the playoff race -- again -- the Eastern Conference.
The Timbers have slipped to fifth in the Western Conference,
going 4-4-2 in their last 10 games after losing just once in their first 17 games.
“Maximiliano is a player we know well, one we feel will be a great fit in our system and scouted
extensively prior to him signing with Toronto,” said Timbers coach Caleb Porter
. “He is a quality, young player who has cut his teeth with one of
the top clubs in the Argentine first division. Urruti will complement the depth we have in the striker position, and once he is acclimated and match fit, will bring a dimension to the number nine role
that we’ve been looking for.”
Friday marks the day when all teams will lock in their rosters for the remainder of the season
