Kagawa: Ask Moyes Why I'm Not Playing

After scoring a brilliant individual goal for Japan in a 3-1 win against Ghana in Yokohama on Tuesday, Manchester United playmaker Shinji Kagawa told reporters that he has no idea why he hasn’t played a part in any of United’s first three English Premier League games.

“Please ask [Manchester United coach] David Moyes why I'm not in the side," the 24-year-old told AFP after the game. "It is frustrating not playing but to score a goal like that gives me confidence. Hopefully I can take that back to my club with me and things will improve."

Kagawa, a former two-time German Bundesliga Player of the Year during his time with Borussia Dortmund, has played just seven minutes for United this season, making a cameo in the Red Devils’ 2-0 Community Shield win against Wigan last month.

While Japan has already qualified for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Ghana still needs to win a playoff series against one of five second-place qualifiers from the African region to ensure a place in next summer’s finals.
