By Paul Kennedy The average U.S. household rating of 1.4 for Tuesday night's USA-Mexico match on ESPN matched the previous record for a U.S.
qualifier set when the USA played Mexico at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca on March 26, 2013.
Dos a Cero IV averaged 2,243,000 viewers on ESPN, making it the second most viewed U.S.
men's national team game on the network that wasn't at the World Cup or Confederations Cup.
The record is 2,385,000 average viewers for the March Mexico-USA qualifier.
The
two USA-Mexico World Cup qualifiers have helped boost the average rating for the current round of qualifiers on ESPN networks to 0.8, an increase of 60 percent compared to the 2010 qualifiers.
The audience for Tuesday's game was measured from 7:41 p.m. ET, 20 minutes before the start of the game, so the in-game audience for Dos a Cero IV would have been considerably higher.
The pre-game show that began at 7:00 p.m. ET averaged 783,000 viewers.

WATCHESPN RECORDS. USA-Mexico from Columbus was the most viewed World Cup
qualifying match in 2013 on WatchESPN across computers, smartphones, tablets, Xbox and Apple TV with nearly 118,000 live unique viewers and 4.7 million live minutes.
FUTBOL PICANTE PEAKS. Futbol Picante, ESPN Deportes' soccer show, was seen by 241,600 and 156,700 Hispanic viewers for special post-match editions following Mexico's
qualifiers on Friday and Tuesday, respectively. They are the two most-watched shows of the year.
