Roma Still Perfect Following Parma Win

AS Roma on Monday beat Parma 3-1 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini to go joint-top of Serie A, with nine points from three games. After trailing 1-0 at the half, Alessandro Florenzi drew the visitors level on 47 minutes before veteran striker Francesco Totti put the Giallorossi in the lead in the 70th minute. Dutchman Kevin Strootman put the win beyond doubt with a penalty five minutes from time.

“We wanted to win at all costs,” captain Totti told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s been a long time since we won our first three games of the season. But we have to keep our feet on the ground.” Roma coach Rudy Garcia echoed Totti’s caution about not getting carried away. “I am not looking at the standings at the moment,” the French tactician said. “The only thing I’m counting are the points. It was a difficult match. But importantly, we were losing and reacted. I like to win with a comeback – it is proof that we play as a team.”
