[COLLEGE WOMEN: Sunday] Top-ranked Virginia ran its win streak to 11 straight games with a 1-0 victory over No. 22 Maryland Sunday in front of a record women’scrowd of 2,540 at Kloeckner Stadium.

Sophomore Brittany Ratcliffe scored the lone goal with 17 seconds remaining in the first half to keep theCavaliers as the nation’s only unbeaten and untied team.

“To get a result today against a very good Maryland team was what we were looking for,” said UVa coach Steve Swanson. “I think the crowd was a big factor in the game. We came off a three-game road trip and we may not have quite had our legs, but the crowd gave usa lot of energy. Maryland was in the same situation and they gave us everything they had defensively. It is not easy to get wins in this conference, so we really have to thank our fans for thisone.”

— Taylor Smith had a goal and an assist and Sam Mewis scored the game-winner as fourth-ranked UCLA opened Pac-12 play with a 2-1 victory at Arizona.

— Micaela Capelle scored two goals and Amanda Frisbie had the game-winner for No. 7 Portland, which shut outWashington, 3-0. The win is the Pilots’ fifth straight and improves their record to 8-1-1.

An early goal from Kaysie Clark, her first of the season, was all Missouri needed to upset No. 11 Florida, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in front of 973fans at the Audrey J. Walton Complex. It was the first win for the Tigers in the six-match series between the two teams.

ACC WATCH. No. 5 FloridaState had to settle for a 1-1 tie at Clemson thanks to a late equalizer by Dagny Brynjarsdottir, just back from national team duty with Iceland.“Obviously, we go into every game hoping and expecting that we are going to win the game, but credit to Clemson they came out, had a fantastic game plan and executed that game plan,”Florida State head coach Mark Krikorian said. “They scored a nice goal and made us chase the game.”

— After jumping out to a 2-0 lead onThursday night before losing to Virginia, 3-2, Duke had to come from behind at home on Sunday to earn a 1-1 tie against 13th-ranked Virginia Tech on KellyCobb‘s goal in the 74th minute. “The kids were great,” said Duke head coach Robbie Church. “We had such a hard game with Virginia onThursday night.  We put a lot of energy and effort into that game.  We are really committed right now and it is the best it has been all year. We are getting better, battling.  We hadsome quality chances — this is a just a great team.  Virginia Tech is 9-1-2 and lost only one game all year.  I couldn’t be prouder right now.”

BIG 12 SHOWDOWN. No. 12 Baylor had come into Sunday’s showdown with No. 18 West Virginia with a31-match unbeaten streak, but the Mountaineers slipped out of Betty Lou Mays Field with a 4-3 win. The Bears had allowed only one goal in 10 games but West Virginia scored two first-half goals andopened up a 3-0 lead early in the second half. After Baylor cut the deficit to 3-2, West Virginia forward Cari Price scored on a header to seal the win.

REBELS REBOUND. Mississippi rebounded from the first home loss of the season, putting together an offensive show with a 7-0 win over Auburn — the largestmargin of victory for the Rebels in a SEC match in the history of the program. Sophomore Bethany Bunker and senior MandyMcCalla had two goals apiece, while senior Rafaelle Souza added three assists.
