Report: Beckham Close to Backing for MLS Miami Franchise

The Daily Mail on Tuesday reports that David Beckham is in the final round of negotiations with investors about backing a potential new Major League Soccer franchise in Miami. The former LA Galaxy midfielder had a clause in his MLS contract that would allow him to buy an MLS club at a 25 percent discount. Bolivian billionaire Marcelo Claure, entertainment giant Simon Fuller, and Steve Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins, could be the project’s co-investors. According to the report, the most likely home for the team is Florida International University’s stadium in Miami.
