[UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Week 2]
It's going to be hard to dislodge Bayern Munich. Forget for a moment the nightmare Joe Hart
had in goal for Manchester City, Bayern Munich's 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium signaled it remains the best team in Europe despite a change in coaches.
''We were so dominant against a big team in Europe,'' said Arjen Robben.
''We didn't expect an easy game like that.''
Bayern was ahead 3-0
by the hour mark on goals by its big three up front, Franck Ribery
, Thomas Mueller
and Robben, and should have had more
before Alvaro Negredo
pulled a goal back for Man City.
''I'm lucky to be here and training these players,'' said Pep Guardiola
, who took over for Jupp Heynckes
over the summer.
The game was a battle of former La Liga coaches, and Guardiola, the
former Barcelona coach, again got the best of Manuel Pellegrini
, who came over from Malaga to take charge at Manchester City over the summer. Guardiola and
Pellegrini had met eight times in Liga, and Guardiola's Barca teams won seven times and tied the other game.
''I think we played really bad,'' said Pellegrini, who watched his team give
up six goals in its last two games, both losses.
