Torres' Tigres suffers bitter defeat in clasico

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Jose Torres missed his penalty kick as Tigres fell to city rival Monterrey in a shootout, 4-2, after it blew a 2-0 lead at the half and had to settle for a 2-2 tie with Los Rayados in the quarterfinals of Mexico's Copa MX.

Emmanuel Villa and Juninho put Tigres ahead, but Monterrey replied on goals by Cesar Delgado in the 64th minute and Humberto Suazo one minute into stoppage time.

The game was the 101st clasico between the two teams in a series dating back to 1974.

Other quarterfinal winners:  Alebrijes de Oaxaca (2-1 over Merida), Atlas (2-1 over UNAM) and Morelia (2-0 over Leon).
