[NOTRE DAME-INDIANA: Men] Harrison Shipp
set up Vince Cicciarelli
and Patrick Hodan
for goals as No. 2 Notre Dame cruised to a 2-0 win over defending national champion Indiana Wednesday evening.
Cicciarelli, who has battled
through injuries during a good portion of his Fighting Irish career, scored his first goal in three season.
“This might be the monkey off Vince’s back a little bit,”
Notre Dame coach Bobby Clark
said. “He was terrific all game and getting the goal was the icing on the cake, but I think that’ll be the first of
many for him. Indiana really had a hard time trying to handle Vince and I thought he certainly was one of our top players tonight.”
IU dropped to 4-5-1 with the loss.
“They are a good team, they are physical, and they outplayed us tonight,” said Hoosiers coach Todd Yeagley
. “I thought they were very
aggressive in the way they played and they have some excellent players. They may be the best team we play all year. We really never got into a rhythm tonight. We did some OK things at times but it
wasn’t close to our performance level.”
