Bayern Reflects on 'Easy' Win at Man City

Bayern Munich showed why it remains the team to beat in Europe on Wednesday night: its 3-1 masterclass against Manchester City in a UEFA Champions League Group C match at the Etihad Arena was comfortable, to say the least. Goals from Franck Ribery, Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben secured the points for Bayern, before Alvaro Negredo scored a consolation goal for City ten minutes from time. Dutch winger Robben was surprised at just how easy the win had been for Bayern.

“We enjoyed playing tonight's game, it was a great team performance by us,” he said. “To be fair, I expected a little bit more from Manchester City because I think they have a great team but in the end it was an easy game and a great win.”

Negredo, City’s goalscorer, said: “We can’t take any positives because there weren't any – they dominated, they had chances, got three goals. It's very hard to play against them. They are a team that likes to have a lot of the ball, they use it well and it's very hard to get it off them – once you get it back, it's hard to have a clear mind because you’ve spent 90 minutes running after the ball.”

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola remarked: “I like coming to England and when my team plays like this, I am very happy. We are delighted with our display.”
