  1. Once again, a supposedly substantive level of soccer (previously ODP, this time Academy) has been watered down to inconsequential, all in the name of money. If Academy level play is supposed to be of the highest order, what is San Mateo County Star? Never heard of them, and rightly so after a 14-1 shellacking. At some point scores do start to matter and certainly I thought Academy teams should be good. But no. This is a new club in an area awash in clubs. At some point this continual league/club generation has to stop so we can focus on quality and not $.

  2. R2 dad, SJ earthquakes academy is loaded with only 99’s at this age group. They are by far the oldest team in pre-academy system in nortehrn california. Most of the other academies in northern cali have a mix of 99’s, 2000’s and even some 2001’s. Our Academy for example has the older 99’s that can handle playing up at the U16 level.
