After a rough start, Maryland, the Preseason No. 1, is starting to find its form. Freshman Michael
’ first career goal helped the Terrapins defeat Boston College, 2-1, Friday night at Ludwig Field for their third straight win. Maryland also got an own goal as it improved to 5-2-3
overall and 4-0-1 in the ACC.
“It’s a very good win on the heels of a very difficult Tuesday night match,” Maryland coach Sasho
said. “I thought we played very well in the first half and were maybe unfortunate to not have a bigger cushion than we did. Credit Boston College on being very composed and
finding a great goal at the end to make it interesting.”
Senior Sunny Jane
, who was a menace throughout the first half, served the ball into
the box for Sauers’ goal just five minutes into the game, the quickest the Terps have scored this season.
The Terps’ pressure paid off again in the 30th minute as a
cross deflected off a Boston College defender and trickled past keeper Alex Kapp
to give them a 2-0 lead.
