Kufeld stymies No. 2 Bruins

[UCLA-WASHINGTON: Women] No. 2 UCLA had to settle for a 0-0 tie with Washington in a Pac-12 match on Monday evening at Drake Stadium. The Bruins outshot UW, 24-4, and totaled 13 shots in the two overtime periods but were stymied by Husky goalkeeper Megan Kufeld, who made eight saves. Their best chance came with 32 seconds remaining in the first overtime period when Sam Mewis' header hit the crossbar.

Additionally, Taylor Smith had a shot that went just wide of the left corner in the 93rd minute, and Darian Jenkins had a good look in the 95th minute but had her shot saved.

"I think we were unlucky not to score," said UCLA head coach Amanda Cromwell. "We were already celebrating the one off the crossbar that Sam hit. Taylor [Smith] had one. A few of them we wish we had back. But that's the game of soccer sometimes."

UCLA goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland picked up her seventh shutout of the year and made two saves in the match.

The Bruins have little time to rest before their next match on Thursday evening at No. 4 Stanford.
