Colombia or Chile will clinch Friday

[WORLD CUP 2014 QUALIFYING] Lionel Messi is injured, but Argentina won't miss him as it has already qualified for the World Cup finals in neighboring Brazil. The winner of Friday's Colombia-Chile match will qualify -- Colombia goes through with a draw -- while three other teams remain alive in South America, where four of nine teams advance to the finals, and the fifth-place team will face Jordan next month in a playoff.

Argentina leads the South America group with 29 points. Colombia (26), Chile (24) and Ecuador and Uruguay (22) all have a shot at one of the other three automatic berths.

Uruguay has climbed back into contention with three straight wins but faces the toughest closing schedule. The Celeste must play Ecuador in Quito and then Argentina at home.

With only one game remaining, Venezuela (19), the only team in South America that has never reached the final, has only a mathematical chance of claiming fifth place and the intercontinental playoff spot.

Paraguay, Peru and Bolivia have been eliminated.

Also, both Colombia and Chile will qualify if Chile wins and the Ecuador/Uruguay game doesn't end in a draw.
