Spencer scores for Apollon in Champions League loss

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Jasmyne Spencer, one of six Americans to play for Apollon, came off the bench to score for the Cypriot club, but it fell to Austria's Neulengbach, 2-1, at home in the first leg of their round-of-32 series in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Michelle Betos started in goal, while Joanna Lohman, Tina DiMartino, Sinead Farrelly and Nikki Krzysik, who switched her international allegiance and now plays for Poland, also started for Apollon.

-- Alex Singer started for Germany's Turbine Potsdam in its 5-0 win at Hungary's MTK.

Christen Press scored both goals to give Swedish club Tyreso a 2-1 win over visiting Paris St. Germain in the first leg of their round-of-32 series in the UEFA Champions League. The game, played in front of a sellout crowd of 3,327, featured six Americans.

Press, who leads in the Swedish Damallsvenskan with 21 goals in 19 games, scored goals sandwiched around a goal from PSG captain Sabrina Delannoy.

Ashlyn Harris, Ali Krieger and Meghan Klingenberg also started for Tyreso, while Tobin Heath started and teen Lindsey Horan was a late sub for PSG.

Megan Rapinoe came off the bench for 2011 and 2012 champion Lyon in its 4-0 win at FC Twente.

Nick Ashley, on loan from Sky Blue FC, and Amy Barczuk started for Russian club Zorky in its 2-1 win over Iceland's Thor/KA. Tahnai Annis and Kayla Grimsley started for Thor/KA.
