Inter Milan Sold to Indonesian Mogul

Serie A giant Inter Milan on Tuesday was officially taken over by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, who assumed a 70 percent majority share in the club after purchasing former President Massimo Moratti’s shares for a reported $478 million. Thohir is also part owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and DC United.

As yet, it is still unclear whether 68-year-old Moratti, who has owned Inter since 1995, will remain president. "That I don't know," Moratti said ahead of the official press release confirming the sale to Thohir. "Every president leaves his mark," he added. "The important thing is that he's always respectful of the rest of the world, beyond his own job, and I think these people also have that in mind. They're people that really mean well and are good character-wise, too."

Inter now becomes the second Serie A club to cede majority ownership to foreigners, following the 2011 sale of AS Roma to a group of Boston executives.
