Paladins extend winning streak to 10 games

[CLEMSON-FURMAN: Men] Furman extended its winning streak to 10 matches with a 2-1 win at No. 9 Clemson on goals by Tyler Peoples and Michael Gandier on either side of intermission.

Sven Lissek recorded several saves in the final minutes as the Paladins earned their fifth win over the Tigers in the last six series meetings

Furman opened the scoring in the 18th minute after Bobby Edet's cross was the deflected into the path of Peoples, who hammered a one-timer to the far, right corner from the top of the box for his fifth goal of the season.

Furman doubled its lead less than five minutes into the second period when a Martin Ontiveros run earned the Paladins a free kick and he served a ball to the top of the six-yard box that Gandier headed in for the eventual match-winner -- his second winner against the Tigers in as many seasons.

Clemson pulled a goal back in the 61st minute when Jack Metcalf lofted a long ball behind the Paladin defense to set Iain Smith free and the forward slotted the ball past Lissek.

The Tigers had their chances in the final minutes, but Alexandre Happi missed high on a pair of chances and Lissek tipped an Alex Stockinger shot over the bar.
