Huskies continue offensive explosion

[CONNECTICUT-COLUMBIA: Men] Canadians Cyle Larin and Allando Matheson and Colin Bradley (from the penalty spot) scored in the first 34 minutes as No. 8 Connecticut opened up a 3-0 lead and cruised to a 4-0 win over Columbia to earn its third straight match.

Larin opened up the scoring in the 15th minute with his team-leading fifth goal of the season from fellow freshman Kwame Awuah and Edir DaGraca. Matheson doubled Connecticut’s lead, putting away his fourth goal of the season on a pass from sophomore Nicholas Zuniga. In the second half, Matheson finished the scoring with a header off of a corner kick from junior Adria Beso to give him five goals in the last four matches, coming off the bench for UConn coach Ray Reid.

With the shutout win, Jamaican All-American Andre Blake earned his 40th career victory and 30th career shutout as a Husky.

In the last two matches, Connecticut has scored seven goals and allowed just six total shots, improving to 6-2-4 on the season. Columbia fell to 5-3-2 overall.
