Club America eliminated in another shocker

[CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Week 6] In one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Concacaf Champions League's group stage, Mexican giant Club America, the 2013 Mexican Torneo Clausura champion, fell to Alajuelense of Costa Rica, 1-0, at home on  Honduran Jerry Palacios' goal and was eliminated from the regional tournament. America is only the second Mexican team, after Guadalajara, last year, that has been eliminated in the group stage of the Concacaf Champions League.

America's exit comes only days after its coach, Miguel Herrera, was named interim Mexico national team coach, and its front-office staff was named to run El Tri for the two matches against New Zealand that will decide whether Mexico goes to the 2014 World Cup.

America, the 2013 Apertura leader, will be without its national team players for two of the next three games.
