Qatar has removed a sculpture of Zinedine Zidane headbutting Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final between France and Italy following an outcry by conservatives who view the work as anti-Islam idolization. Islamic jurisprudence prohibits statues of human beings and animals to avoid the possibility of idolization. The 16.4-foot sculpture from Algerian-born French artist Adel Abdessemed was only unveiled to the public on Oct. 3.
