Kljestan goal ties career high; Friedel survives own goal

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Sacha Kljestan scored his team-high sixth goal of the year for Belgian champion Anderlecht in its 3-0 win at Oostende.

Kljestan's six league goals tied his career high. He had six goals for Chivas USA in 2007.

Anderlecht is tied for fifth place, seven points behind leader Standard Liege, after 12 games.

ENGLAND. Brad Friedel's stop on Ahmed Elmohamady's spot kick earned Tottenham the Capitol One Cup win over Hull City in a marathon shootout but not before he gave up a comical own goal to allow the Tigers to tie the game in regulation.

After a spectacular goal from distance by Gylfi Sigurdsson put Tottenham ahead, Curtis Davies had the whole goal to shoot at but his attempted tap-in went across the six-yard box and hit Friedel, who was on his knees, and deflected into the goal.

Spurs and Hull City both scored in overtime to make the final score 2-2 before Spurs won 8-7 in the shootout.
