Third straight marks MLK's 15th title

[HIGH SCHOOL] Martin Luther King Jr. beat Beacon, 3-0, last Sunday to claim its third straight New York City PSAL Class A title and 15th in the last 18 years.

“The result is beautiful and I’m pinching myself that this is 15,” said Martin Jacobson, who took the MLK helm in 1994 when it was a struggling program. “Fifteen is sweet.”

Gary Daniel, Amara Sesay and Kevin Rodriguez scored for the Knights, who finished the season 16-0-0, in the championship game victory.

Daniel’s goal came after just four minutes, Sesay’s header just before halftime marked his fifth playoff goal, and Rodriguez hammered home in the 55th minute.
