[AMERICANS ABROAD] German-American teenager Julian Green signed his first pro contract with Bayern Munich. The 18-year-oldhad represented both the USA and Germany at the youth level and was recently invited to join the USA at its training camp ahead of the friendlies against  Scotland and Austria.

Jurgen Klinsmann said U.S. Soccer decided to “take the foot off the pedal” after all the attention to Green’s call-up. Instead, Green will play for Germany’s U-19s for friendlies against FranceWednesday and Saturday.

Green, 18, has played for Germany’s U-19 national in official play, so he’d only be eligible to play for the USA at the senior level and if he applied for aone-time switch of allegiance.

Green played for Bayern’s first team in pre-season play, but he currently plays for its reserve team, Bayern Munich II, in the fourth level Regionalliga.

Green has scored 15 goals in 17 games for first-place Bayern Munich II.
