Dunn sidelined for North Carolina's opener

Defending champion North Carolina will be without 2012 Soccer America Women's Player of the Year Crystal Dunn for the opening game of its title defense Saturday against Liberty. The U.S. international sat out the overtime loss to Florida State in the ACC semifinals with a leg injury, and her status for the NCAA Tournament is uncertain. Coach Anson Dorrance was encouraged with Heels' play despite the loss to Florida State. “We were playing without Crystal Dunn, our top offensive player, and without Caitlin Ball, our top defender, and we played them better than we did early in the season,” he said. “So that’s very encouraging to me.”
