Somalian teen beats Chivas USA

[MLS 2014 COUNTDOWN] After its last-place season, Chivas USA got a jumpstart on its preparations for the 2014 season before breaking for the winter with a trip to Arizona Friday for the opening of the Kino Sports Complex North Stadium, where it dropped a 1-0 decision to the PDL's FC Tucson on a goal by 17-year-old Somalian refugee Sadam Ali in the 89th minute.

Players such as Carlos Bocanegra, Carlos Alvarez, Eric Avila and Erick Torres, who would be expected to be key players on Chivas USA in 2014, all started before breaking for the offseason.

The game drew a capacity crowd of 2,414 at Kino Sports Complex North Stadium.

It was announced at the game that 10 MLS teams will spend part of the 2014 preseason in Tucson, and the Desert Diamond Cup will involve five MLS teams -- Chivas USA, the Chicago Fire, Real Salt Lake, Colorado Rapids and New England Revolution -- plus FC Tucson.
