Even though he just joined AS Monaco over the summer, bookmakers in the UK have placed 6/1 odds on Radamel Falcao joining Chelsea either during the January transfer window or nextsummer for a would-be British transfer record of 60 million pounds ($96.7 million). The likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City are all at 16/1 odds to sign the Colombian striker, according to Sky Bet.

Chelsea badly needs to sign a top striker with its forward trio of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba havingscored just three Premier League goals between them so far this season. Blues coach Jose Mourinho was watching in the stands on Thursday as Colombia beat Belgium, 2-0, in Brussels, with Falcao grabbing the opening goal.

On hearing of Mourinho’s presence after the game, Falcao said: “He came here to see good soccer played by good teams, agood spectacle. I don’t know if he was impressed by what he saw – I hope I made a good impression on him. The Premier League is one of the most important leagues in the world but I’m playing well andenjoying Monaco at the moment.”
