In a Q&A on Twitter last week, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger noted that there are two main jokers in his squad: goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and striker Niklas Bendtner. And while Szczesny recently gave fans a reason to rejoice by pledging his future to the Gunners, Bendtner over the weekend announced in a bizarre interview with a Danish pub that he wants to leave Arsenal for Barcelona or Real Madrid. And no, he wasn’t kidding, if his Twitter postings are anything to go by.

The Internet was suddenly awash with mockery. "I have more chance of a date with Megan Fox than Nicklas Bendtner has of pulling on the Madrid or Barca shirt," The Gooner, a blog, wrote, noting that the Danish striker has not scored anywhere for 18 months.

"Bendtner's inflated opinion of his own worth" has sabotaged moves away from the Emirates in the past, Just Arsenal, another blog, wrote. "I really hope that [Olivier] Giroud stays fit and [Theo] Walcott and [Lukas] Podolski get back into scoring form quickly, because then we may never have to see the not-so-great Dane in an Arsenal shirt ever again," it adds.
