[NEBRASKA-BOSTON COLLEGE: Women] Boston College beat Nebraska, 4-1, in freezing Lincoln to give the ACC eight teams in the round of 16 in the NCAA Women's
Tournament. All four unseeded teams joined the four No. 1 seeds in the third round. The Huskers came in as No. 2 seeds, but BC dominated the game with a 30-12 edge in shots.
The Eagles
got goals from sophomore
McKenzie Meehan, freshman
Hayley Dowd, senior
Gibby
Wagner and sophomore
Lauren Bernard. Meehan's goal gave her 19 for the season to set the BC record she had shared with
Mary Guarino.
“We talked about being patient with the ball," said BC coach
Alison Foley. "We thought we would have it a lot on
our half and we didn’t want to go fast and furious forward. We wanted to let our opportunities develop and look to get balls out wide. I think we did that and with that we converted on a lot of
opportunities and a lot of chances showed up in front of the goal for us."
The win marked the ninth time the Eagles have made it to the final 16.
