Following his team’s 3-0 win against Celtic at Parkhead on Tuesday, AC Milan playmaker Kaka noted that the crucial away victory could be a catalyst for the Serie Aclub’s flagging confidence. Milan is currently 13th in Serie A, having just snapped a seven-game winless streak.

“Tonight’s victory is extremely important regardless of ourprevious results. It is an essential victory and we achieved the result we wanted,” Kaka said post-match. “In the end it was a fair score and we deserved it. We knew that if we won tonightwe would have a decisive game against Ajax. This is what happened and now we depend on ourselves.”

Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong added: “I was expecting a littlebit more from Celtic, but we put them under pressure and took the chances when they came along. For Milan, the Champions League is as important as the [Scudetto]. We are not in a good place at themoment, but three points and 3-0 is very welcome. We showed tonight how dangerous we can be.”

The Italian giant’s next and final UCL game is against Ajax, which beat Barcelona 2-1in Amsterdam on Tuesday, at the San Siro on Matchday 8. The winner will progress to the UCL Round of 16 alongside Barca. A win or a draw would be enough for Milan while Ajax needs to win.
