The Houston Dynamo declined contract options on three players, Andrew Driver
, Cam Weaver
and Michael Chabala
, all of whom came off the bench to start in the Eastern Conference championship series.
started the first leg against Houston in place of the suspended Corey Ashe
, while and Driver and Weaver started the second as Ricardo Clark
and Will Bruin
The three of them started 94 games among them for the Dynamo during their stays in
Houston. Chabala has played seven seasons for the Dynamo over two stints; Weaver spent five years in Houston. Driver arrived this season from Scotland.
All three could have their
contracts renegotiated. Driver, who can play on the wing or other attacking positions, has particular value for the Dynamo, which could be without Brad Davis
or Oscar Boniek
or both on World Cup duty next season.
Two other players -- starting center back Bobby Boswell
, who has played 257 games in nine
MLS seasons, and Calen Carr
, who didn't play in 2013 after being injured in MLS Cup 2012 -- are out of contract.
