In an interview with Italian radio, former AC Milan and Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso questioned the role of women in soccer management after his former club appointed Barbara Berlusconi, daughter of President Silvio Berlusconi, as its general manager. "I'm sorry, but I really don't think much of women in soccer," he said. "That's the way I see things. I think there should be more respect for somebody like [Milan VP Adriano] Galliani." Last week, Galliani tendered his resignation, hinting that he had been undermined by Berlusconi’s rise to power.
