[SPAIN TRIP] The 20-player roster Coach Richie Williams named for the U.S. under-17 (’98 age group) national team tripto Spain reflects the changing nature of the program. Six of the 20 players aren’t in the residency program based in Bradenton, Fla. Four have moved to clubs abroad — Daniel Barbir (Manchester City), Luca de la Torre (Fulham), Joshua Perez (Fiorentina) and
Williams’ squad leaves for Spain on Wednesday and will train four daysbefore taking on Real Madrid Academy on Sept. 30. They will then play a game against an undetermined opponent on Oct. 2 before taking on Rayo Vallecano Academy on Oct. 4.
This is thefirst wave of play with the current roster in preparation for the 2015 Concacaf U-17 Championship.
