Wenger: Everton, Southampton as Good as Man City

Following his team’s heavy 6-3 loss at the Etihad to Manchester City, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger suggested that Manuel Pellegrini’s men are no better than Everton or Southampton. Speaking to reporters after the game, the Frenchman said he didn’t see anything special about the home side’s display, rejecting the suggestion that City is now the team to beat in the race for the EPL title.

"They are one of the teams to beat, but not more than any other one that we have played until now,” Wenger said. “We have played Everton, who were as good as City. We have played Southampton who were as good as City. What hurts me more is that we had an opportunity to put Man City nine points behind us tonight but now they are just three points behind. That is very difficult to swallow. Man City were not unbeatable today.”

He added: “It was a difficult game. We had the best defense in the league and we conceded many goals today. Honestly, we could have scored at least six as well. It was a very open game and on our front, we made too many mistakes. Our strength until now was our defensive discipline and that went as the game went on and in the second half.”
