Van Gaal Linked to Spurs Job

Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal emerged as a surprise contender to succeed Andre Villas-Boas as Tottenham coach after the Dutchman admitted his desire to work in the Premier League, although Van Gaal insists he is unwilling to take the job until after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Meanwhile, interim manager Tim Sherwood oversaw Spurs’ 3-2 win against Southampton at St. Mary’s, in a game which saw striker Emmanuel Adebayor score a brace after being restored to the starting lineup for the first time since May.
