Boateng assaulted, goals for Gyan and Adomah

[WORLD CUP 2014 COUNTDOWN: Ghana] Ghanaian Kevin-Prince Boateng was attacked by an unidentified man on the street of Kaarst in Germany and later treated at a hospital on Christmas Day. The holidays were kinder for Asamoah Gyan, who scored his league-leading 15th goal in 12 games in the United Arab Emirates, and winger Albert Adomah, who scored his ninth goal of the season for English League Championship team Middlesbrough.

A police statement said that the assault was related to the "personal affairs" of the 26-year-old Boateng, who was reported to be mildly injured. Boateng joined German club Schalke 04 from AC Milan in the summer.

Meanwhile, veteran Michael Essien could be leaving Chelsea over the January transfer window. He has rarely played for the Blues so far this season, having only started two league games since moving on loan from Real Madrid. Since he has not played in the Champions League this season, Essien's agent hopes to move him to another club still involved in the Champions League.

    "Personal affairs"?? In the street?

We really need to beat these guys this time!

It will be such a shame for Essien to leave Chelsea again; I was happy to see Mourinho bring him back with him from Madrid, and every time (though few) he has come into a game, it seems he has played well and contributed.
