[MLS 2014 COUNTDOWN]
The LA Galaxy has added to its Brazilian corps with the signing of 22-year-old forward Samuel
from Fluminense of Brazil’s Serie A. He scored 15 goals in 72 appearances for Flu in the last two seasons and should give the Galaxy another attacking option.
“We are pleased
to add Samuel to our roster,” said LA Galaxy coach and general manager Bruce Arena
. “Samuel is a young, talented forward with both size and skill.
We are confident his addition will help boost our attack in 2014.”
Samuel appeared in eight games for Flu in the Copa Libertadores, helping it reach the quarterfinals in 2013.
Both Juninho and Leonardo began their MLS careers with the Galaxy on loan from Sao Paulo. Both are now the property of the Galaxy, entering their fifth seasons. Marcelo Sarvas
, the Galaxy's other
Brazilian, came via Costa Rica, where he was playing for Alajuelense. CHAVEZ FOR HARRIS.
The trade that sent Marvin
z from San Jose to Colorado for Atiba Harris
could give the Rapids a potent option on the wing to bolster its offense.
Chavez, who is a
candidate to make the Honduran World Cup team, had 13 assists in 2012 but endured a rough 2013 campaign for the Earthquakes, winner of the Supporters' Shield in 2012 but not in the Western Conference
top five in 2013.
Harris' prowess in the air is more in keeping with the Quakes' long-ball style.
