Mullins and Brian take Hermann Trophy awards

[COLLEGE SOCCER] Maryland senior Patrick Mullins and Virginia junior Morgan Brian were named the 2013 winners of the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy. Mullins is the first player to repeat as the male winner since Virginia's Mike Fisher in 1995-96.

The winners were decided by a vote of NCAA Division I soccer coaches that are current NSCAA members, along with a weighted fan vote.

Mullins, the seventh player to win back-to-back Hermann Trophies, capped his senior campaign with 46 points on 19 goals and eight assists. His point and goal totals are both tied for the fifth-highest single-season records in Maryland history. He led the Terrapins to back-to-back Men's College Cup appearances.

First runner-up for the men’s award was Notre Dame senior forward Harrison Shipp, followed by UCLA junior midfielder Leo Stolz.

Brian, the Soccer America Women's Player of the Year, finished the season as the ACC’s leading scorer with 46 points on 16 goals and a conference-best 14 assists. She also made Cavalier history by setting the single-season record in assists. She also made three appearances for the U.S. women's national team in 2013.

First runner-up was North Carolina senior midfielder Crystal Dunn, and 2012 MAC Hermann winner, followed by UCLA junior defender Abby Dahlkemper.
