Perfect USA lifts title

[CONCACAF UNDER-20 WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP] With a fifth straight shutout victory, the Under-20 World Cup-bound USA lifted the regional crown. Goals by Andi Sullivan, Savannah Jordan and Margaret "Midge" Purce -- and a Mexican own goal -- gave the Americans a 4-0 victory to cap a tournament performance that saw them outscore their five foes, 29-0.

Midfielder Rose Lavelle was the tournament’s Golden Ball winner, goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland earned Golden Glove honors, and McKenzie Meehan was the co-goal scoring leader of the tournament with Mexico’s Tanya Samarzich. Coach Michelle French's U.S. team also earned the Concacaf Fair Play Award.

The American women kept their streak of qualifying for every U-20 World Cup alive win they beat Trinidad & Tobago, 6-0, in the semifinals, which followed wins over Costa Rica (6-0), Jamaica (3-0) and Guatemala (10-0).

Against the Mexicans, Sullivan scored off of a corner kick early in the first half while Jordan and Purce struck in the second half. Mexico’s own goal came in stoppage time.
