[ENGLAND] Andries Jonker, the assistant coach of German club Wolfsburg, will take charge of Arsenal's youth development program next summer. The
Dutchman had previously spent seven years developing and implementing youth coaching reforms with the Dutch federation (KNVB).
Jonker, 51, replaces
Liam Brady as
Arsenal’s Head of Youth Development and the Academy.
Jonker moved to Germany initially as assistant coach to compatriot
Louis van Gaal at Bayern Munich.
“Youth development is a key part of our philosophy at Arsenal and I am delighted that Andries is joining us,” Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis
said. “He has an outstanding track record in developing and identifying young players and creating
systems to bring the best out of them. I know he will build on the tremendous work which has been done by Liam and his team over many years.”
