USL PRO released its 2014 schedule during which each of its 14 teams will play 28 games. The season kicks off on March 22 with two games: defending
champion Orlando City at 2012 champion Charleston and the LA Blues at LA Galaxy II, the first game for the LA Galaxy's new USL PRO team. USL PRO:
The regular season will run until Sept. 7 and then be followed by the playoffs (single-game knockout format)
over three weekends with the championship game set for the weekend of Sept. 26-28. The top eight teams again make the playoffs.
Every USL PRO squad will once again play a pair of
regular-season games against MLS reserve teams. As 10 MLS clubs have agreements to loan players to USL PRO teams and the Galaxy has entered a team in USL PRO, only eight teams are left in the MLS
Reserve League. The Galaxy II will play the Seattle and Real Salt Lake reserves.
Three new teams have joined USL PRO in 2014: OKC Energy FC and Sacramento Republic FC in addition to
the Galaxy II, which will play at StubHub Center. The Energy, coached by Jimmy Nielsen
, opens April 5 at the Blues. Republic FC opens a week earlier at
the Galaxy II.
Expansion teams in Colorado Springs and Tulsa have already been added for 2015. This is the last season for Orlando before it moves to MLS. Its owners have been in
discussions about relocating its USL PRO team to Louisville in 2015.
Antigua Barracuda FC (which went 0-26-0 in 2013) and VSI Tampa Bay FC (out after one season) will not return in
2014. 2014 USL PRO:
