Collin red carded in Sporting KC-Portland draw

[MLS 2014 COUNTDOWN] Defending champion Sporting Kansas City and the Portland Timbers played to a 1-1 tie Saturday night before a crowd of 976 fans at North Stadium at Kino Sports Complex in in Tucson, Ariz.

Sporting KC took the lead on former Timber Sal Zizzo's goal in the 31st minute but had star Aurelien Collin sent off two minutes later. Generation adidas signing Schillo Tshuma tied the score for the Timbers with six minutes to play.

Sporting KC was without national team players Matt Besler, Graham Zusi and Benny Feilhaber, but had Seth Sinovic and Chance Myers back after being released by the national team.

The game marked the Portland debuts of Argentines German Fernandez and Norberto Paparatto.

    So the refs are trying to make up for having allowed Collin's thuggery to spoil last years MLS playoffs. Sorry guys, but it too little, too late. Collin doesn't belong in the league, send he and Vermes to the English fourth division where they belong.

    Allan you are so correct. Collin is just a thug with not that much soccer talent. The fact that KC has him on the team speaks volumes about the ethics of their management.

    Collin does get away with a lot but Besler and Collin are the best center back pairing in MLS. Every pair needs a guy that is a destroyer and one that backs up and reads play. Collin is a destroyer. BTW- I am not from KC and was rooting for RSL in Cup.

    I agree- I detest players who rely on dirty viciousness (and so many of them seem to have that same physical type!). Send Collin back to - no, not France, I love France! Send him to New Caledonia!
