The latest attempt to stop Messi

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] Like so many defenders do when they can't rely on skills, Jon Gaztanaga resorts to cheating. But the Real Sociedad man's effort in stopping Lionel Messi is especially pathetic as he seems to get his sports mixed up.

During Barcelona's 2-0 Copa del Rey win, Gaztanaga tackles Messi football-style -- and escapes with a yellow card.

As upset as I am with this defender, I am more upset with the incompetence of this referee. The defender should receive a fine and a multi-game ban. The referee should not be assigned to another game for several weeks and spend that time learning more about the rules of the game.

Had there been a NFL style mic on the ref, he might have said, "Incompetent and pathetic defending, Number 6, direct free kick and Number 6 is sent off." What an absolute fraud.

The "beautiful game"? Not with this allowed to go on. The defender should be sent off, fined and miss three matches.

What are you guys so upset about? Defensive pass interference, place the ball at the point of infraction, first down Barcelona!
