[USA-RUSSIA] The USA beat Russia, 7-0, in their women's international friendly Saturday afternoon at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. The win extended the USA's
unbeaten streak to 41 games.
The USA got two goals from
Carli Lloyd and one from
Heather O'Reilly to take a
3-0 lead at the half.
Christen Press matched Lloyd with a pair of goals in the second half.
Lloyd, who also had an assist, hit the crossbar in the
first half, and sub
Megan Rapinoe also hit the crossbar and post in the second half against the out-matched Russians, who had to play the last 20 minutes with
10 players after defender Valentina Orlova took down
Amy Rodriguez on a breakaway and was shown a straight red card for denying an obvious scoring opportunity.
The USA finished with a 32-3 edge in shots and 18-1 edge in shots on goal.
