[USA-RUSSIA] The USA-Russia women's game rescheduled for Thursday indoors at Atlanta's Georgia Dome will be played, according to a statement from U.S. Soccer
released Wednesday afternoon, though it cautioned fans to consider weather conditions before traveling to the game. By late Wednesday afternoon, the sleet and freezing rain had caused almost a quarter
million customers across Georgia to lose their power.
Atlanta: Weather
Report The second match in the series was scheduled for Wednesday, but the forecast for bad weather in the area has forced the game to be postponed until Thursday with a kickoff at
7:30 p.m. ET (live
ussoccer.com stream). More than 14,000 tickets have been sold for the game.
The decision to postpone the game was made as state
and city officials worked to reduce the problems that occurred during a winter storm in late January that left some residents stranded in their cars. The postponement was announced Monday night in an
attempt to alert fans outside of the Atlanta area in advance of their travel plans.
The game will be the 10th the USA has played indoors in its history. It has won all nine other
games.
The USA has opened its 2014 campaign with home wins over Canada (1-0) and Russia (7-0) and will be looking to extend its 79-game home unbeaten streak (69-0-10) and current overall
41-game unbeaten streak (35-0-6) that dates back to March 2012.
Was planning on driving down but in this weather just looks like I'll eat the $100 is spent on tickets. Not happy with USSoccer's decision
