CONCACAF CHAMPIONS CUP: MLS teams crushed in first leg of quarterfinals

The best of MLS was no match for CONCACAF rivals on opening day of the 2004 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Costa Rican powerhouse Alajuela crushed MLS champion San Jose, 3-0, and Caribbean champion San Juan Jabloteh of Trinidad & Tobago humbled the Chicago Fire, 5-2, Wednesday night in the first leg of the quarterfinals.

Both games were decided early in the first half.

Erick Scott and Frolan Ledezma scored to give Alajuela a 2-0 lead after 14 minutes.
